In a direct drive compressor, the motor shaft is mechanically linked straight to the compressor's airend or pump mechanism. When the motor turns, the compressor element rotates at the same speed. In the Hydrovane V/VR Series, this rotary vane mechanism draws in air, compresses it within the vane chambers, and delivers pressurized air output — all without any belt or gear intermediaries.

A rotary vane compressor uses an offset rotor with spring-loaded vanes inside a cylindrical housing. As the rotor turns, the vanes slide in and out, trapping and compressing air in progressively smaller chambers. This design delivers smooth, pulse-free airflow, low noise, and excellent durability — the Hydrovane V/VR Series achieves up to 100,000+ operating hours.

The Hydrovane V/VR Series delivers 6.3–36.4 CFM at 100 PSIG and 4.5–28.7 CFM at 150 PSIG across its 2–10 HP range. Operating pressure spans 100–150 PSIG, making these pumps suitable for a wide range of industrial and automotive compressed air demands.

The Hydrovane V/VR Series operates at noise levels as low as 65 dBA — comparable to normal conversation.
